Volunteering

Herts Welcomes Refugees relies entirely on volunteers to manage and promote the charity, fundraise, and to welcome and support refugee families and asylum seekers in Hertfordshire. 

We need new volunteers to continue to support refugees and asylum seekers as their needs develop. 

We are looking for volunteers with a variety of skills. Please get in touch to see how you can help by e-mailing ruhena.akhtar@hwsf.org.uk


Here are some of the ways that you can get involved: 
  • ​Befriending
  • Translating/Interpreting
  • Language support
  • Marketing and communications
  • Educational support for young people
  • Administrative help
  • Being part of a team supporting asylum seekers in hostels/hotels (eg cookery sessions, homework clubs)
  • Repairing and delivering bicycles​​
  • Fundraising
  • DIY and gardening
  • Driving
  • Coordinating events
  • Supporting employment
  • Creative skills
  • Help with one-off events
  • ​IT support​
