A number of our Syrian refugees are keen to have bikes so we are setting up a Bikes Action
Group to operate across Hertfordshire.
● People with cycle maintenance and repair skills (who can also advise on whether a
bike is worth repairing or needs professional help)
● People willing and able to transport bikes - collect from donors, deliver to skilled
repairers and, finally, to their destination
● Offers of bikes - in reasonable condition
● Offers of high viz jackets, bike locks, pumps and other equipment. (Helmets we will
need to buy new.)
We also need STORAGE!!
If you can help with any of the above please email:
Please tell us what you can offer and what part of the county you live in.
Herts Welcomes Syrian Families news, February 2017
We would like to invite you all to join us on the 22nd March for discussion and information sharing.
The purposes of these discussions are:
*To enable HWSF and other volunteer groups supporting refugees and asylum seekers around Hertfordshire to describe what they do.
*To explore ways of increasing collaboration toward improving the overall effectiveness of all organisations.
*To provide an opportunity for those wishing to become more involved in HWSF and other volunteer groups to understand better where the gaps are and how they can contribute to helping HWSF and others fulfill their objectives.
If you are interested in contributing to this, here are the details.
22nd March 2017 at 7pm for refreshments, to start at 7.30pm
Quaker Meeting House
109 Handside Lane
Welwyn Garden City
If you can't make this date, but would still like to contribute, please do contact us by phone or email for a chat.
Records from our first AGM
Lots of interesting information was shared, and some valuable comments made, at our AGM. If you would like to read the reports and minutes, they can be found on the 'Our First AGM' page on this site.
The committee and Trustees are about to overhaul the information found here. Please feel free to have a browse and make any comments. Email email@example.com with your suggestions for updating it.
That's all for now - hope to see lots of you on the 22nd!
